EDUCATION - MEMBER COURSES - ADVANCED GRADES
SEAMANSHIP

Seamanship covers basic knowledge every prudent skipper should know even before leaving port - practical marlinspike, hull design and performance, boat care, skipper's responsibilities, boating under normal and abnormal conditions, emergencies afloat, and more. Building on the basics learned in Boating, Seamanship is an important foundation for other "advanced grade" courses. The course consists of two modules.


Seamanship 101 includes the following sections:
    -    Marlinespike
    -    Safety
    -    The Skipper's Responsibilities
    -    Before Leaving the Dock
    -    Weather and Wave Forms
    -    Nautical Etiquette and Customs


Seamanship 102
includes the following sections:
    -    Hull Design and Care
    -    Docking and Undocking, Towing, Trailering
    -    Anchoring, Rafting, Mooring and Dinghies
    -    Cruising Considerations
    -    Boating Emergencies - Be Prepared
